Blowout

I felt rather crummy last night, so I had a carb and dairy blowout. The work situation is pretty rooted, so it was one of those emotional things. Like Nicole, though, I found that the extent of the blowout was limited by feeling incredibly full after only getting about 66% of the way through the planned gorging. I still ended up +7.5 points for the day.

Hot tip: Felling shitty about your work situation, and then going home to watch the DVD of “The Office” is a combination that leads to emotional triggers and wanting to blow out. Avoid. I might mention this at the next meeting.

It’s good to know what your triggers are anyway. Stress also drive me to the fridge, I noticed when B was first born everytime he would cry a lot I would hit the fridge as soon as it was over to calm down. It can go all the way back to when your parents give you a lolly when you hurt your knee. (I already do this a bit with B – but that’s another story. At least he sees me going to weight watchers!).

Maybe next time you have a bad day (and let’s face it, it’s probably today 🙁 You should consider going for a swim or walk or something immediately on leaving the office. Give yourself a chance to release the stress before you get home to the fridge. Or maybe you should get yourself a nice punching bag installed next to your desk so that you an at least punch something – should scare the shit out of the people who are annoying you at least!

I think that not eating due to emotional reasons is one of the hardest areas to control in weight reduction. I too have a shitty work situation and sometimes it takes all of my willpower not to come home and binge. As I said in the WW group the other week there are many forms of hunger and only one of them can be solved by eating. I think you have to recognise and be on guard against the other types. If watching a DVD works cool, for me I find playing computer games helps me get rid of aggression and distracts my mind long enough for me to forget about wanting to snack out.

I constantly stare aimlessly into the fridge hoping for a really nice chocolate bar to suddenly leap out at me. It never does
